Celery Storage
Buying fresh celery will always provide a higher quality of celery than the pre-packaged and trimmed version. With the fresh version, you get the celery leaves and tops which can be used for lots of things such as stocks or in salads. Since it is fresh, you may wonder how to store it for a long period of time and still maintain its freshness. Wrap the celery completely in foil and it will prolong its fresh shelf life by 50%.
Start by pulling a sheet of foil that is 25 percent longer than the longest stem. Lay the celery diagonally the along the short edge of the foil.
Roll the foil over the top of the celery and then proceed to roll the celery all the way across the foil.
Twist the ends and you are done.
Place celery in the refrigerator..
Update to the Tip: I pulled the celery out of the refrigerator which had been stored there since the article on Sept. 15 and it was still crunchie just like the day I purchased it. So I cut up the remaining celery, put and freezer bag and placed it in the freezer for a future soup.
Bon Appetit!
