Charity Event Update - Italian Food takeout

Ordering is now closed. We met ticket sales goal! Thank you!

On October 17, 2020, the Knights of Columbus Council #14129 Culinary Team will have an Italian COVID-19 Safe Food to Go Fundraiser. Due to COVID-19 rules, the Culinary team will be making their Italian recipes but the meals will be already cooked and frozen with reheating instructions for all items. Distribution for food combinations will be from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the side door of the St. Mary’s parish hall located at 9505 Gayton Rd, Richmond, VA 23229. No need to get out, just line up in your car as guided by the Knights.

Each meal combination is $20. Place orders on-line at http://www.stmarysrichmond.org/ On-line sale ends Saturday, October 10th. Orders can be placed after the masses on October 3rd & 4th at the church (cash and checks only, no credit cards.) There will be no orders taken at the distribution site on October 17th. Since these meals can go right into your freezer consider purchasing more “Knights Ready to Go Meals” since they are already cooked and just need reheating for a quick family meal.

All of the Italian food will be offered as combinations. There are no a la carte options. The eight combinations available will include some of these items: Marinara, Alfredo & Bolognese Sauces, Pasta, Chicken Parmesan, Lasagna, Meatballs, a Stuffed Mushroom appetizer and Italian cookies. See the St. Mary’s webpage “Italian Food To Go Fundraiser” for combination details.

Knights are supporting families in need!! Feed More, Habitat for Humanity, VKCCI – providing funds for local families in need and KOVAR – supplies housing and funds for Intellectually Disabled. About a year or so ago a young high school student was in a car accident which left him partially paralyzed. He was living with his mother and in the ground level floor of their house with no way to get to the kitchen or his bedroom. We contacted the family and ramp company from which we were able to get an inexpensive ramp built for their son. A group of my peers went and installed the ramp. This charity also helped find a wheelchair-equipped vehicle at a good price. The charity was able to buy it and give it to the family.

I am planning to blog the whole event on the site so that people can see how we do a charity event end to end. We have several workdays planned and I will blog each one. Keep an eye out for future posts.

If you are looking for a break from cooking and want to support a charity for a good cause, please consider supporting this effort.
